Stewarts celebrate golden anniversary

Los Altos residents Charles Owen and Joann Condie Stewart celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 16.

Married in 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the couple have lived in Los Altos since 1960.

Charles received his bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University. He was the senior vice president of investments at Prudential and Wachovia Securities in Palo Alto for 45years. He retired in 2004.

Joann attended the University of Utah, where she received her bachelor's degree in education. She taught at Encinal and Lytton schools in Palo Alto, as well as directed musicals at Montclaire Elementary School in Los Altos. A former soprano soloist in the Messiah at the Flint Center, Joann continues to work as a private vocal coach.

She and Charles are the parents of Michelle Burwasser, Charles OwenStewart Jr., Joannie Miller, Sharisse Kokernak, Eileen Wagstaff and IsaacMitton Stewart, and the grandparents of Joseph, Thomas Burwasser, Levi Stewart, Olivia Miller, Chase Kokernak and Benjamin Wagstaff.
